Dr. Eugenia Chen, M.D.

Dr. Eugenia Chen is a board-certified adult psychiatrist with fellowship training in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and additional expertise in ADHD evaluations, college and workplace mental health, and perinatal mental health. She completed her medical training at Baylor College of Medicine, followed by psychiatry residency at Kaiser Permanente and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where she served as Fellowship Wellness Chief.

As a bilingual Mandarin-speaking psychiatrist, Dr. Chen provides culturally informed, developmentally focused care for children, adolescents, college students, and adults navigating ADHD, anxiety, mood disorders, behavioral concerns, trauma, and major life transitions. She has a special interest in supporting individuals through transitional periods, including parent-infant and maternal mental health, college and emerging adulthood, and times of significant life stress, burnout, and personal change.

Dr. Chen takes a collaborative and family-centered approach, working with patients, families, therapists, schools, and other providers to create thoughtful, individualized treatment plans. She understands that taking the first step toward seeking mental health care can feel overwhelming, especially when navigating multiple providers or feeling unheard when sharing your story. She strives to create a supportive space where patients feel understood, explaining diagnoses and treatment options in plain language so they can make informed decisions about their care.

Together with her patients, Dr. Chen develops treatment plans that align with each person's goals and values, whether that includes medication management, psychotherapy, parent guidance, or other supports. She is certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), bringing additional expertise in child development and family systems.

Outside of clinical work, Dr. Chen enjoys traveling, scuba diving, cooking, exploring new restaurants, and spending time with her family and dog.

Getting Started & What to Expect

The first visit is a comprehensive evaluation focused on understanding you (or your child) as a whole person—not just symptoms. I take time to learn about current concerns, psychiatric history, and life context. This includes a thorough psychiatric interview and, when helpful, input from family or other sources. Together, we review diagnostic impressions and create a thoughtful, individualized treatment plan.

A child or adolescent evaluation is a comprehensive, two-session process (approximately 120 minutes total). It includes interviews with the child and caregivers, a detailed developmental and psychiatric history, and a careful diagnostic assessment. When helpful, input from schools or other providers may also be incorporated to support accurate treatment planning.

Yes. With consent and when clinically appropriate, I collaborate with families, schools, and other providers to support continuity of care and a more complete understanding of each patient's needs.
